![]() ![]() I believe the coax are multiple lines, but I could put in a split. 2 and 3 are pretty similar, requiring 1 or 2 MoCA to Ethernet and my old wifi router or a replacement if needed.Ĭoax from garage to center of house (current quantum gateway location) and end opposite garage (bedrooms and den). Which of these 3 is the most logical? 1 requires no additional hardware, but might not be possible. I'm not sure the advantage of this over option 2, but it's split instead of chained. Option 3: ont to coax splitter, gateway WiFi on one side, MoCA to Ethernet to wifi on the other. I think this would work, they could be the same extended WiFi network or different ssids. Option 2: ont to quantum gateway, gateway is both WiFi and Ethernet to MoCA adapter, coax line to another MoCA to Ethernet, second WiFi router (would ASUS RT-N56U work?). I don't think this is possible, or I would need Verizon to open up the Ethernet. Step 4: Connect Your MoCA Adapter if You. Option 1: Run both MoCA and Ethernet from the ont, and have 2 WiFi modems (quantum gateway and ASUS RT-N56U), separate WiFi networks. The ONT should automatically assign your router a new IP address from Verizon Fios, enabling it to connect to the internet and form a new lease connection. Coax cables run outside the house, eye sore and pita placements, but they are there. But the main WiFi needs (streaming, gaming, endless zoom, cloud computing) are in opposite ends of the house, and my office is getting low bandwidth. I have Verizon FiOS, ONT in the garage, and the quantum gateway pretty central to the house. Looking for confirmation that my idea will work, and if not what to do instead. u/RoweDent created this awesome resource on network theory ![]() ![]() u/tht1kidd_ has created a suggestion post regarding information everyone needs to provide when asking a question about their network There have been some excellent guides written in this sub, and we're always looking for more!
